With the CE mark, we as the manufacturer show that our product has been made in accordance with the specific requirements of applicable European directives.

We are often asked for a certificate for the CE mark. The CE mark is not a (test) seal granted by a third party, which is why there is no certificate available for it.

neoGRÜN organic modeling clay and finger paints are “Made in Germany”! We produce all our products in our own manufacturing facilities at our company headquarters. This allows us to work with local suppliers, reduce transport distances, and ensure the quality of our raw materials at all times.

We’ve done a lot of research and careful thinking about the best material for our containers.
In this case, it’s not just about environmental factors – safety for children is our top priority.

This is exactly why we avoid using recycled plastics. They can be contaminated with substances such as BPA and other plasticizers, which may transfer to the product. Glass would be an alternative, but due to safety concerns and transport challenges, it is not a practical option. Biodegradable plastics also do not currently offer a truly satisfying solution for our products. Starch-based plastics decompose too quickly and are not suitable for moist and long-lasting items like ours. PLA-based materials fall into recycling class 07 (Other), which is difficult to recycle and must be processed together with other plastics according to German regulations. Another bioplastic, so-called bio-polyethylene or Green PE, raises many ethical and environmental concerns regarding the sourcing of raw materials. These often come from intensive agriculture and may contribute to deforestation and human rights violations.

For these reasons, we believe that responsible recycling – at least during the current stage of development of safe, biodegradable plastics – has a far more positive impact on our environment and the actions of future generations.
After all, only a mindful approach to all types of plastics can sustainably protect our living environment.

That’s how we came to the decision that the currently best solution for our cup material is BPA-free, food-grade polypropylene (PP). This material is pure, safe, and up to 100% recyclable – meaning it can become a new product again.

Upcycling before recycling! You can also simply reuse our cups — as containers for pens and other small items, or even as flower pots.
That way, you can watch not only the plant grow, but also its roots. You’ll find some ideas on our blog.

Please dispose of plastic responsibly and only according to your country’s local recycling guidelines. Thank you!

Organic Finger Paints

Our finger paints are free from the most common allergens typically found in food.*
However, keep in mind that allergic reactions can occur to almost any ingredient – whether natural or synthetic.

* Free from gluten, soy, peanuts and tree nuts, palm oil, milk, fish, and eggs.

Short answer – YES. Long answer – Finger paints are not food products, so we prefer to refer to milk and grain ingredients as potential allergens. Our finger paints contain no wheat gluten or other wheat components. The starch we use is derived from corn. All our products are vegan, which means they contain no milk-based ingredients.

neogrün finger paints are made from colors that originate in nature. These colors are vibrant and largely lightfast. However, their intensity may fade over time and with direct sunlight exposure. We recommend storing the paint cups in the original box to protect them from light.

The finger paints are not suitable for painting on textiles and cannot be permanently fixed to fabric. The formula is designed so that the paints can usually be washed out of textiles easily.

In our own tests and those reported by customers, the paints washed out easily at 30°C or 40°C.
However, the type of fabric also plays an important role. That’s why we generally recommend not wearing best clothes and using a craft apron when painting. If paint does get on clothing like a T-shirt or sweater, do not treat it with water right away. Instead, let it dry completely, brush off any residue, and then wash as usual.

Yes! All organic ingredients in our products are easily biodegradable. The mineral components are environmentally friendly. Leftover product (excluding plastic containers and paper packaging) is suitable for composting and can be disposed of in organic waste.

No, our finger paints do not contain talc. Talc can be a health concern, as contamination with asbestos may pose risks to the respiratory system and has been linked to cancer. That’s why we completely avoid using talc in any of our products.

The finger paints have a shelf life of at least 36 months from the production date when unopened. You can find the best-before date on the bottom left of the back of the cardboard packaging and on the bottom of each paint cup.

To avoid the introduction of bacteria and ensure a long shelf life even after opening, we recommend using a spoon to take out the amount of paint you need and placing it on a plate or in a separate container. This way, you can reseal the remaining paint and store it for the next use – ideally in the cardboard box at room temperature.

You can use our natural finger paints on the following surfaces:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Glass
  • Wood
  • Stone

There is no danger if children put a small amount of paint in their mouth. Our ingredients are of natural origin, tested for harmful substances, and free from the most common allergens (wheat gluten, soy, nuts, milk, fish, and eggs).
However, to prevent children from developing a taste for the paints, we are legally required to add a bitter-tasting substance to our products.

Organic Modeling Clay

Yes! All organic ingredients in our products are easily biodegradable. The mineral components are environmentally friendly. Leftover product (excluding plastic containers and paper packaging) is suitable for composting and can be disposed of in organic waste.

The main source of formaldehyde in cosmetics and wet-formulated toys comes from various preservatives. In our modeling clay, we use potassium sorbate — a very mild and safe preservative that poses no risk of formaldehyde or parabens. To make our clay even safer, we also avoid the use of alum due to widespread concerns about aluminum salts. Additionally, we refrain from using synthetic azo and phthalocyanine pigments, even those of cosmetic or food-grade quality — they simply don’t belong in natural products!

Our organic modeling clay has a shelf life of at least 24 months from the production date when unopened. You can find the best-before date on the bottom left of the back of the cardboard packaging and on the bottom of each clay cup.

To avoid the introduction of bacteria and ensure the longest possible shelf life after opening, we recommend not putting used clay back into the cup with unused clay. This way, you can reseal the unused clay, protect it from drying out, and store it for next time – ideally in the cardboard box at room temperature.

No. When developing our organic modeling clay, we deliberately chose not to use alum, as it is a chemical that we believe has no place in children’s toys. Alum is a crystalline substance with mild disinfectant properties, often used to protect modeling clay from microbial growth. However, alum has an astringent effect on skin and mucous membranes.

Easy modeling clay contains gluten. Otherwise, our clay is free from the most common* allergens typically found in food.
However, please keep in mind that allergic reactions can occur to virtually any ingredient — whether natural or synthetic.

* Free from soy, peanuts and tree nuts, palm oil, milk, fish, and eggs.

Don’t worry. Children are curious and love to put things in their mouths. We know that, and that’s exactly why our neogrün organic modeling clay is made with natural ingredients.

In our experience, small amounts are usually unproblematic. To help the clay move smoothly through the digestive tract and to balance the higher salt content, your child should drink plenty of fluids afterwards.

However, if your child experiences persistent stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting, has swallowed a large amount, or is allergic to certain ingredients (e.g., wheat or colorants), it’s a good idea to contact a doctor or poison control center. Otherwise, simply keep an eye on your child – in most cases, nothing more will happen.

Yes, that is completely normal and intentional. Modeling clay is generally not meant to be eaten. To protect children, we are legally required to add a bitter-tasting substance to our products. This reliably discourages children from swallowing the clay.

Don’t worry – in most cases, it’s not mold! neogrün Easy Modeling Clay contains natural preservatives that help keep it fresh. The white spots are usually caused by salt coming to the surface or slight drying – this is completely harmless and does not affect the quality of the clay. If you look closely, you can even see the fine salt crystals!

Our organic modeling clay has a long shelf life, but if you notice any of the following, it’s best to replace it:
– An unpleasant smell
– Fuzzy green or black spots
– A very sticky or crumbly texture

Tip: Store the modeling clay in an airtight container to keep it soft and ready to play for a long time.

Scribble Chalk

In general, children are allowed to express their creativity with chalk on streets and sidewalks, as chalk drawings can be washed away by rain or water and typically do not cause any permanent damage.
However, children should take care not to obstruct pedestrians and should preferably draw only on play streets, sidewalks, or other safe areas.

Please note: Local laws and regulations may vary. In Germany, for example, the District Court of Wiesbaden ruled (February 23, 2007, Case No. 93 C 6086/05-17) that chalk drawings on the sidewalk in front of rental properties are considered normal use and must be tolerated by landlords.

More information on street chalk.

Yes, neogrün doodle chalk can be easily washed off surfaces like stone or asphalt with water.
Without water, you can sprinkle a bit of sand over the artwork and simply sweep it away with a broom.
On chalkboards and similar surfaces, the chalk can be wiped off easily with a sponge or cloth.

Yes. neoGRÜN street chalk is made from the natural raw material calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is typically extracted by blasting or drilling and then ground for further processing. In contrast, gypsum must undergo an energy-intensive dehydration process after being extracted from gypsum stone. This additional step results in higher CO₂ emissions during the production of gypsum compared to the extraction and processing of calcium carbonate.

neoGRÜN doodle chalk is made from calcium carbonate, not gypsum. Calcium carbonate can be removed much more easily from surfaces like asphalt and concrete compared to gypsum. Chalk made from calcium carbonate is also brighter and more vibrant, as the pigments mix better with the natural material, resulting in higher color quality. Additionally, gypsum-based chalk is less resistant to sunlight, meaning artworks created with calcium carbonate chalk can last longer.

Textile marker

No, the Stofffilzies markers are specifically designed for textiles. On paper, the ink may bleed through or appear uneven. For paper applications, we recommend using markers intended for that purpose.

Wooden Rolling Pin

Please do not clean the rolling pin under running water or in the dishwasher. Instead, use a damp cloth to gently wipe it clean.

Our rolling pins are intentionally left uncoated to ensure your child can explore their creativity with completely non-toxic, safe toys. To prevent the clay from sticking to the pin, here are a few tried-and-true tips:

Cooking Oil: Rub a small amount of olive oil onto the rolling pin. This creates a smooth surface and prevents the clay from sticking.
Flour: Just like when baking, lightly dust the rolling pin with flour. This also helps keep the clay from sticking.
Plastic Wrap: Place a sheet of plastic wrap over the clay before rolling. While this isn’t the most eco-friendly option, it works very well. Please make sure your child does not put the plastic wrap in their mouth. Choking hazard.
